Enter the billed amount
The price field is the amount paid for one billing cycle. For a service costing USD 120 per year, enter 120 and select Yearly. Entering 10 with a yearly cycle would incorrectly estimate only USD 10 per year. Include taxes in the entered amount if you want them reflected; the calculator does not add them.
Read the monthly equivalent
A USD 120 annual subscription has a USD 10 monthly equivalent. This helps compare it with a USD 12 monthly subscription, whose annual recurring cost is USD 144. A monthly equivalent spreads the cost for comparison; it does not mean the vendor collects payments monthly.
Separate forecasts from cash flow
Annual recurring totals assume constant prices and a complete year of each recurring subscription. They do not account for when a charge falls in the coming year, partial months or cancellation. Use the renewal calendar for due dates and a payment ledger for actual transactions.
Keep one-time charges separate
One-time licenses and setup fees have no recurring monthly equivalent in this tool. They appear in the One-time cost column rather than increasing the recurring run rate. This prevents a one-off USD 200 purchase from being treated as USD 200 every year.
Compare within each currency
USD and EUR totals remain separate. Adding them without an exchange rate produces a misleading number. The calculator does not fetch rates, convert currencies or recommend financial decisions. Export the cost CSV to make a separate, documented comparison using rates appropriate to your own planning date.
